What happens behind the scenes?
Basically, the airline must inform you immediately of the cancellation and of your rights. For this reason, we always ask you for your contact number when we make a booking for you. Often, they will also inform us, which means that we will reach out to you and inform you about the cancelled flight.
What should you do if your flight is cancelled?
All information is always available at the airport and at the airline counter. We strongly recommend that in the event of a flight cancellation; you find the airline’s counter and ask why the flight has been cancelled and how can the airline change flights for you so it fits your schedule. The airline’s staff will have accurate information at the airport and will be able to answer all your questions immediately, or if you are one of our clients, you can contact us.
What are your rights?
- If you decide not to travel, you are entitled to a full refund of the ticket price for the cancelled flight.
- You have the right to be re-routed to the next available flight to your final destination (but this does not apply to low-cost airlines).
- You also have the right to be re-routed to a later date of your choice, subject to availability.
- If you are waiting for an alternative later flight, you are entitled to: Hotel accommodation (if the flight is not until the following day), airport-hotel transfer, meals and refreshments in accordance with the waiting time at the airport.
What to do when you’re at the airport?
We advise you to find the information, contact the airline’s ticket counter and request a written notification of the reasons for cancellation and your rights. Request a re-routing or a refund, but of course you must decide whether you want a re-routing or a refund and inform the airline at the airport. Don’t forget to request the accommodation if you will be waiting for an alternative flight, and ask for your eligible meals, accommodation and transport (in accordance with the waiting time for the new flight).
